If I have received a citation for possession of alcohol and am 18 years old, is there anyway I can remove the citation from my record?
Do I need a lawyer for this? Is the state granted attorney enough?

A citation is different than a conviction for what you are facing. A citiation is a charge against you for doing somehting wrong that has yet to be proven in the court system.
A conviction is when the charge against you is proven in the court system. Given the possession of alcohol charge that you are facing where you have not yet been convicted of the offense, I suggest that you consult with a criminal defense attorney to assist you in your matter.
