What to do if I am a month behind on my rent and my landlord is telling everyone my personal business at the local bars and it got back to my friends and family?

Is he allowed to talk to people about my personal business and tell them what is going on? I consider that slander. I am not behind because I want to be. I am struggling financially.

You can sue your landlord for invasion of privacy.  One type of invasion of privacy is the public disclosure of private facts.

Your damages (monetary compensation you are seeking in your lawsuit for invasion of privacy) would include mental distress, harm to your social or business interests, and if applicable, physical illness.

Punitive damages (a substantial amount) may be awarded if a wrongful motive on the part of your landlord is shown.
