What to do if our rentl was forclosed on 4 month ago?
It goes to sherrif’s auction next month. We knew nothing of this until I received a call from someone asking if I knew our place was going to auction. What laws were violated and what rights do we have?

Since 2009 renters are now afforded additional protection under federal law. President Obama signed the "Protecting Tenants at Foreclosure Act of 2009" which provides that leases survive a foreclosure. A tenant could stay at least until the end of the lease, and month-to-month tenants would be entitled to 90 days' notice before having to move out. An exception was carved out for the buyer who intends to live on the property -- this buyer may terminate a lease with 90 days' notice. Good luck.
