Employer withholding final check.
My old employer is trying to withhold my final check because I missed a day of work and the store wasn’t open for the first 3 hours of the day, so he is claiming loss of business. I’m wondering if he is allowed to withhold the entire pay or just a portion. I should also mention I was paid under the table.

All wages must be paid when due. If your ex-employer is witholding your paycheck, you can file a claim with your state's departent of labor or sue your emoplyer in small claims court (at least if the cost of doing so is worth it). Also, be sure to show that you paid taxes on your wages.
