Are daughters next of kin?
My dad recently passed away and I’m trying to figure out if I would be next of kin seeing that
my grandmother is dead and grandfather lives out of state.

I'm assuming that your father dies without a Will. if he had one, then its terms will control who is a beneficiary and the distribution of his estate. If he had no Will, then he died "intestate". This means that the laws of the state in which he was domiciled as of the date of his death will control. In such a situation, a surviving spouse, if any, and the children of the deceased are the legal heirs.
