The fees for attorneys who help probate a will are set by statute (that is, by law) in your state. They are a small percentage of the size of the estate: 4% of the first $100,000 of the estate's gross value; 3% of the next $100,000; 2% of the next $800,000 after that; 1% of the next $9 million; 0.5% of the next $15 million; no additional amounts for estates over $24 million in value.
