What is a fair settlement for an injury?

A chair broke at an event causing my head o hit a pillar. I blacked out and EMS was called and I was taken to the ER. I had a concussion and was sent home with 2 days bedrest and meds. Now the insurance company wants to make a settlement but I’m not sure what would be fair.

Compensation for the medical bills is straight reimbursement. Compensation for wage loss is straight reimbursement. Compensation for pain and suffering is an amount in addition to the medical bills based on the medical reports. There isn't any mathematical formula for determining compensation for pain and suffering. Ask for quintuple the medical bills if you have fully recovered and more if you have residual complaints. Don't expect to get those amounts because the insurance company will respond with much lower figures. You can continue negotiating to try to get the insurance company to raise its settlement offer.
