Company History: National Indemnity Company was founded in 1940 by Arthur and Jack Ringwalt in Omaha, Nebraska as a specialty insurance firm writing liability insurance on taxis. The company became a part of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. in 1967. In 1985 the company launched its Specialty Risk Division. Currently more than 440 employees work at the company’s corporate headquarters.
