Company History: Twin City Fire Insurance Company is a member of the Hartford Group of insurance and financial service companies. Twin City Fire (an Indiana insurance company) is a successor to a company formed in 1910 in Minnesota which began business in 1913. Twin City writes a wide variety of property and casualty insurance lines in all states, but almost one half of 2005 direct premiums were derived from workers’ compensation and another 37% came from commercial auto liability and other libility lines. New York accounted for 12.5% of direct 2005 premiums, followed by California (8.4%), Florida (7.2%), and Texas (6.0%). The Hartford Financial Services Group was a subsidiary of ITT Corp. until it was spun off in 1995. Hartford traces its beginnings to a local fire insurance company founded in 1810. Today it is one of the largest financial services companies in the U.S.
