What are the consequences of our actions and is there any solution? PLease read details for further explanation.
My brother has been charged with a aggravated sexual assault on a minor and he is pending trial and currently on probation. We personally tried to contact the other family about settling it out of court or to see about dropping the charges. Now the court wants to have an earlier hearing. What are the consequences against my brother and is ther a solution to this because our lawyer had initially warned against any contact.

It is impossible to know the consequence of the case, without knowing more of the facts. Generally speaking, aggravated sexual assault is punishable by 5-99 years imprisonment. (It depends upon whether your brother has prior convictions, which might "enhance" the punishment). I can't say what the consequences are for probation revocation, because I do not know what offense your brother is on probation for. As to consequences for contacting the family to have the charges dropped, if anyone attempted to influence a witness' testimony or attempted to get a witness to withhold testimony, without the consent and approval of prosecutor, this could lead to a felony charge of "tampering with a witness." You should listen to your lawyer on this and other topics.
