I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law. In CT you can look at the statute for first time offenders for this charge and it tells you in the statute. In NV, you can easily do the same. If you are not sure the exact statute number, then try to google domestic violence or simply call the local criminal court in your town and ask to speak to the public defender's office and ask for the statute or the penalty. they ususaly know off the top of their head.
