If I was arrested for an OWI, what can I expect will be the outcome of my court hearing?

First offense OWI; checkpoint arrest – no other charges; admitted to drinking; submitted to breathalyzer (BAC: 0.112). I was also arrested 6 years ago for paraphernalia and possession of marijuana (pre-trial diversion; not expunged). How will my previous charges effect the outcome of my OWIcourt hearing? Should i speak with a DUI attorney? I’m in Layfayette Parish, LA.

If you were arrested and charged for driving as motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, the charge against against you is serious in that your driving privileges can be suspended, you can be heavily fined, jailed, ordered to take drunk driving classes and your auto insurance will go up.

As such, I suggest that you consult with a criminal defense attorney to represent you in the subject matter in order to safeguard your interests and hopefully minimize the penalties that you might receive if convicted.

Good luck
