Good question. If having just served a year in jail for a presumed felony and you have just learned that there is another felony drug charge against you in another state, you should consult with the presumed attorney who represented you in the matter where you were jailed.

You should ask your prior criminal defense attorney if he or she can refer you to a competent criminal defense attorney in the county and state where the other drug charge is pending. Once referred, you should make contact with this second attorney to form a plan as to the best way to resolve the pending action against you and to establish a defense.
