If I bought a used car “as is” but the car is not safe, how canI get my money back?

The check engine light came on the next day.

If you bought the vehicle as is and the seller disclosed all known problems about the vehicle to you, then you most likely do not have a factual or legal basis to return the vehicle and get your money back.

The check engine light most likely is a simple matter needing a resetting on a computer diagnostic machine based upon my experience with that light. I suggest that you take the vehicle to a reputable mechanic to have it looked at to make sure it is safe.
