If someone gives another person a ride in their vehicle not knowing this person has a warrant, would this be considered harboring a fugitive?

Or could it be considered aiding and abetting? Someone I know is facing charges for harboring a fugitive just for giving someone a ride in their car. According to the person I know, they had no knowledge that the other person had a warrant for their arrest.

To answer your question concisely, I would have to know what state one is living in as to the fact pattern that you are writing about and review the statute defining harboring a fugitive. The statutes on this subject that I have reviewed in the past are pretty broad. Based upon what you have written as to giving a person who has an outstanding warrant a ride in your vehicle knowing about the warrant could very well be a criminal violation for harboring a fugitive.
