What to do if a petty offense committed as a minor is showing up on my record as an adult and what can I do about this?

I had received a littering fine when I was 16. I paid the fine and thought that was the end of it. I recently was subjected to a background check by an employer and they couldn’t hire me because the check showed I had a conviction and plead guilty to the county magistrate.

It is my undertsanding that juvenile records are not generally open to the public but we now know that that is not the case here.  So you need to look in to having the record expunged under 18 Pa CSA 9123.  I would seek help from an attorney that does this sort of thing.  Good luck.
