If your landlord or the proeprty manager is responsible for the custody and control of the drop box for paying rent at your complex then it is the landlord's responsibilty to absorb the loss of the money order that you deposited in the box to pay your rent. Hopefully you made a copy of the money order before you deposited it or at least have a receipt for it.
