What kind of penalties am I facing?
I have received a summons for a bad check. I have since paid the check and the complaining witness said she would drop the charges but she didn’t and I have to face the judge on Monday. Do I need a lawyer and what kind of trouble am I in?

You may want to get an attorrney. The charges you face carry up to 6 months in jail. While it is doubtful you would get any jail a conviction would give you a criminal record which may make it diifcult for you in a lot of ways in the future.
If the charge is not in Ocean County, where I prosecute you can call to discuss further.
