Horrible Mann

Worst insurance company EVER! Not only do they not respond to you nor do they follow up, they will rip you off. I went to add my daughter to our insurance and I had a previous quote from another agent in the company (thankfully I saved and downloaded the chat). The quote was for 770. I went to add my daughter to our insurance and I had a previous quote from another agent in the company (thankfully I saved and downloaded the chat). The quote was for 770. I provided all the same information. A week later, I went back to go ahead and add her. The new agent, Lisa, provided me a rate that was 1421. When I asked what changed in a week, she suddenly said, oh, there is no other quote in the system. When I told her I had the quote and chat from the other agent downloaded she immediately became defensive. I asked to speak with a manager about this and almost 4 days later, I have heard nothing from them. On top of that, when I inquired as to why I was being charged when I was told that my disabled husband had to be on my policy, I was told that Lisa once again would look into why this happened along with surcharges that were added and then taken away on my policy. This was on 9/20. It is 10/10 and I still have not heard anything from Lisa (who is the director of client relations) by the way since. If you want terrible service go with Horace Mann, they will exceed your expectations and lie and upcharge you on top of it.

Horace Mann took Unauthorized Deduduction-Hasn't Refunded

On June 22, 2023, we purchased auto and homeowners insurance policies from Horace Mann. (Previously, we had had the two policies with Horace Mann for 18 years and had switched to another provider six months before June 22 due to rate increases.) At the time the new policies began on June 22, we authorized the first payment of auto insurance to be deducted from our bank account in the amount of $355.37. Instead, on June 26, an unauthorized amount ...
On June 22, 2023, we purchased auto and homeowners insurance policies from Horace Mann. (Previously, we had had the two policies with Horace Mann for 18 years and had switched to another provider six months before June 22 due to rate increases.) At the time the new policies began on June 22, we authorized the first payment of auto insurance to be deducted from our bank account in the amount of $355.37. Instead, on June 26, an unauthorized amount of $698.74 was deducted. That day, I contacted our agent to report the unauthorized deduction and ask for the overage amount to be refunded to our account. I sent her a screenshot of our online bank account showing that deduction. Our agent, who fought diligently for us throughout this unfortunate incident, contacted the billing department, saying they were "ready to issue a refund," but that they required to see something showing our "before" and "after" account balance to prove the deduction had taken place. I argued that our balance was irrelevant and an invasion of our privacy, and that the screenshot of the deduction proves that it happened. I spoke with someone in the billing dept., and they held firm that this was the policy. After days of arguing, Horace Mann finally said they could refund the unauthorized amount by paper check without seeing our balance, but that they couldn't refund it electronically. This caused us financial hardship as we were out of the country. I gave in and told them to issue the paper check refund, but that we would cancel our policies and file a complaint. I was told a manager would call us. At this time, July 13, we have cancelled our policies, no manager has called, and we haven't received an apology from anyone but our agent. Yesterday, I was told the check had been cut, but not mailed. Our agent was wonderful and did her best, but she ultimately had no power. After 18 years of customer loyalty, Horace Mann essentially stole money from our bank account, never apologized or owned it, and laid out requirements for us to meet in order for them to refund our own money. I want others to know about the bad business Horace Mann is doing.

HORRIBLE COMPANY

We will be cancelling this policy. We were sold a rental policy with fraudulent claims that it would be effective when we needed it. We asked several times and the agent kept confirming that yes it would cover. Horace Mann is refusing to reimburse us on this policy even though the agent guaranteed it would cover and Horace Mann is saying it does not. We have been with this company for over ten years and would have thought they would have better ...

Horace Mann is profiting from Customers due to Guidewire

I have had Horace Mann for many years and absolutely love the company. However, they switched to Guidewire about a year ago and I have had nothing but problems with them. They last issue included an agent removing a car from my policy, and because I only had one car my rate shot up. I questioned it several times, and when I went to have it fixed discovered that my educator discount was removed from February-September. When they went to fix it,...
I have had Horace Mann for many years and absolutely love the company. However, they switched to Guidewire about a year ago and I have had nothing but problems with them. They last issue included an agent removing a car from my policy, and because I only had one car my rate shot up. I questioned it several times, and when I went to have it fixed discovered that my educator discount was removed from February-September. When they went to fix it, I was told that Guidewire wouldn't allow it so they cancelled my policy. I was owed about $50 before, and now owe over $1,000. Managers will not return my calls, and they do not value long term customers. This is extremely frustrating, and my understanding is that Guidewire will not be rolled out into other state due to the technical errors of Guidewire. Owning my own business, I know that Horace Mann can make this right, but just don't care to be honest.

This company is a joke!!!! My wife got rearend by one of your customer and total loss her car and they have gave us so much run around no call backs very poor customer service no communication on what to do we have had to just keep calling and dragging any answers we can get!!! This place really really sucks wouldn't recommend getting insurance through this place at all

The total loss claim adjuster was no very helpful. I basically had to do all the work. I spoke with her on (Oct.12) and she said she was still waiting for the paperwork so she could issue the check. I called my lender on Friday(oct. 14) asking if they sent the paperwork and they said they faxed it on Oct.11. Once I called the manger (whom was very helpful) he monitored the situation. I finally got an email Friday night saying my check has be...

The roadside assistance vendor is horrible

First time in over 5 years I have had to use insurance. I called the Horace man number for roadside assistance and I've been waiting 5 hours so far for a tow truck. The roadside assistance coverage is for a $115 that covers about half of a tow in minneapolis. I recommend that you consider other companies because this one is pretty expensive for low quality service.
