I had damage to my vehicle while parked at a hotel “park and ride” lot. Should hotel be responsible or would I need turn into my auto ins carrier?

If your car was damaged by the hotel where you were keeping the car, the hotel is ultimately responsible for the damages. However, most parking lots claim they are not responsible for damages and will be uncooperative in paying to repair your car. The disclaimer is not valid, but it does make the parking lot, or hotel, uncooperative as they try not to pay for the damages. You may find it easier to turn the claim in to your insurance company. You will have to pay the deductible to start, but once the claim is settled by your insurance company with you, they will try to subrogate for the damages they paid out. If they are sucessful then you will get your deductible refunded.By turning in the claim, your rates should not be affected. This accident was not your fault, so there would be no surcharge on the policy, whether your insurance company is sucessful in getting reimbursed or not.
