2nd DUI offense?

I recently just got a DUI. I’m 27 and live in Illinois. I’ve gotten a DUI in the
past but it was 10 years ago when I was 17 in California. I’m wondering if this
recent DUI will count as my 2nd or 1st?

In IL, the "look-back" period is for as long as you have had driving privileges in the state. All previous DUI's count towards future conviction. As for the penalties they can vary dbased on when the prior DUI was committed. For example, a second conviction within a 20-year period will result in suspension of driving privileges for 5 years. At this point you should consult directly with a local DUI as to your situation; they can best advise you further.
