Animal Hit and Run

My sisters dog was hit last week in Idaho and the person drug him off the road and left him there for her to find. Is there a law against hit and run regarding animals?

Not "hit and run" per se. But depending on the facts, it could certainly be animal cruelty (e.g. leaving a wounded animal to suffer), which is a crime. Damaging another's property--and animals, even beloved pets are property--is something you can be sued over, and if done or worsed/exacerbated deliberately (e.g. injuries made worse) is a form of vandalism, a crime. If done in a way to deliberately terrify or harass/distress someone, it might fall under one or another of assault, harassment, or terroristic threat.
