Can a condo association require you to have car insurance?
We are thinking about renting a condo and the landlord’s association requires each occupant’s car to be registered with them and have car insurance to receive a parking permit. Is it legal for them to require car insurance?

Condos and condo associations can make it a requirement to have any type of insurance in order to protect themselves against liability. By buying or renting in the condo you are agreeing to abide by the rules. The alternative is not to buy or rent. Of course a condo or condo association can not make an rules that are arbitrary or capricious or against the law or public policy. But limiting their liability here - which is what they are doing - is not illegal. I liken it to requiring that outside contractors doing work on the condos be licensed and insured and some condos even request that they name them as additional insured's on their policies in order to do work.
