Agreements made voluntarily between the parties is a different story than what parties are legally obligated to abide by under the law. By that I means that the only statutory rights to visitation that North Carolina recognize are parents and grandparents. And actions regarding a grandparent's rights can not be maintained independently of the parent's custody action. They must be brought at the same time. Good luck.
