Can a landlord post a notice on a tenants door with a balance due prior to the date the balance is actually due?

My landlord posted the amount due for rent and utilities on the doors of our entire complex. This included individuals who are not late on their payments, such as myself. Several other tenants and myself are not happy with what we believe to be private information posted on our door for public viewing.

This information may feel "private" but it is not legally private: there is no legal protection for the amount you owe someone, including your landlord, and the creditor (the person owed) can post that information publcally or otherwise share it with others if they want. What you describe is unusual and unprofessional, but not illegal.
