How much notice must a tenant be given regarding a rent increase?
I was told on the 22nd of the month that my rent is going up on the 1st of next month. I was told via text message.

If you have a month-to-month lease, you would have to be given thirty days written notice of the rent increase or other change of terms in the lease. If you were notified of a rent increase on August 22 and rent is due on the first of the month, the rent increase could not go into effect until October 1.
