Can a place of business replace you for no reason?

that he hired new people and no longer has room for me and a couple other co-workers on the schedule.

Did your discharge under the circumstances violate the terms of an employment contract or union agreement? Did it constitute some form of legally actionable discrimination (i.e. was it based on your race, religion, nationality, age (over 40), gender, disability, etc.)? If not, then as an "at will" worker, you could have been ternmiated for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice.
