You can certainly try and explain your situation and hope for the best. However, unless a union agreement or employment contract affords you protection under the circumstances, you are an "at will" employee. This means that absent some form of actionable discrimination being the reason for your treatment, you can fired for having these liquor bottles, or for any reason or no reason at all.
