Can I appeal a common pleas court judges decision to not appoint new counsel?

I have a public defender that refuses to do any pre-trial investigating; his only plan seems to be to get me to plead. I will not and told him this at our first meeting. There are several issues so I filed a pro-se motion requesting new counsel; it was denied. Can Iappeal this pre-trial and who would I appeal to?

You may want to contact a local criminal attorney in your area as appeals are handled differently by state. In Michigan, an appeal of a trial judges ruling will be heard by the next highest court which is the Circuit Court. A judge generally has discretion as to whether or not you can fire your particular public defender during the pendency of a case. If your appeal has been denied, see if the next highest court will hear the appeal, or be prepared to moved forward with your current attorney or pay to retain counsel.
