CanI get a public defender the day of my trial?

If I have court tomorrow and the defenders office doesn’t open until 9 am tomorrow, can I get a PD in the morning before my trial?

You need to first contact the public defender's office about whether or not you qualify or not for appointment of one. Not all people who request a public defender get appointed one.

The court will make you fill out a questionaire to see if your income qualifies you to have one appointed. Assuming you show up at court without a public defender with you, you will need to ask the court for an appointment of one. Most likely your request will result in the trial date being continued.
