1) You can informally go any name you like, any time you want, without having to do anything legally and regardless of marital state--i.e. you can tell friends to call you "Jane Doe," use "Jane Doe," at work, etc.
2) You can legally change your name whenever you like, whether never married, still married, divorcing, or already divorced. You just have to go to court, in a simple proceeding, to get the name change legally approved and recorded. Contact your county court's clerk's office for instructions.
