Homestead exemption from what? If you are claiming bankruptcy, and the homestead exemption allowed you to keep your home, the profits may be the trustee's property -- it depends on what you are seeking.
Contact your bankruptcy counsel. Try www.attorneypages.com if you don't have one and check his or her record at the Texas State Bar.
