can I sell software from LLC to Sole Proprietorship

I was sent an email from my software reseller saying that my
software license could be sold from one business to another.
In fact this software product I noticed has been considered an
asset when one company buys another one with no problem.
However is a Sole Proprietorship considered a legal business
for doing this? The proposed sale would be from an LLC to a
Sole Proprietorship.

Yes, you can sell it from a sole proprietorship to an LLC, though really you are selling it from YOU personally to the LLC. A sole proprietorship is not a separate legal entity: the owner or sole proprietor is the business. You would sell it from yourself, "John Doe, President of Acme Enterprises" (you include the business name for the sake of completeness) to the LLC to which are selling it.
