Can I sue a government employeer for wrongful termination in Virginia?

I feel I was wrongfully terminated from my last employeer. I was fired for ‘misconduct’ I was never instructed my actions would result in termination. My supervisor was also dishonest telling human resources and his manager that I was told on ‘many’ my actions would result in termination. I have worked in customer service for 19 years. I have excellent work ethics. I have never been disciplined in my life. My past employers love me and I still have an excellent relationship with them. This past company can very well be responsible for the he end of my Customer Service Career .

In order to know how to answer you, I would have to know what the misconduct was for which you were fired, and too, were you ever reprimanded for it. There are only a few instances where employers are constrained in terms of firing an employee—with the exception of discriminatory firing (for age, race, gender, to name a few), employers can pretty much fire at will, whenever they want, and for whatever reasons they want. However, in Virginia, as in many states, there is a “cause of action” (or civil action) for wrongful termination. It’s something you must go to court about, and thus you likely would want a lawyer to assess your case. The attorneys that sponsor these pages might be an excellent place to start.
