In an "at will" employment relationship, a worker can be fired for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice. This is true so long as there is no union/collective bargaining agreement or employment contract to the contrary. Also, such an action must not constitute some form of legally actionable discrimination. If not, then a company can set the terms and conditions of employment, much as it sees fit.
