The answer to this question depends on whether or not you voluntarily allowed the driver to drive your car or whether or not the person driving your car did so without your knowledge or consent.  Generally, as the owner of a vehicle, you can be held liable for damages which are the result of an accident your vehicle caused, whether you were driving or not.  If the person driving you vehicle did so without your knowledge or permission and you are now being held liable for damages they caused, you can legally hold them solely responsible for the damages.
