Can I take legal action against my employer if I am unfairly demoted from my current position?
Can I take legal action against my current employer for being unfairly demoted from my position because I did not exactly write a statement they wanted me to write about a former employee who is suing them for wrongful termination.

Unfortunately, you probably cannot take legal action against your employer, unless *possibly* if the way they wanted you to write the statement was an actual lie (that is, not merely how you would have described it, but provably factually incorrect). Employers have tremendous discretion about setting compensation, promoting or demoting, disciplining, etc. employees. They are not supposed to require employees to things that are actually against the law, such as creating a document which would be a fraud on the court, however, or to take action against employees who refuse to break the law. So if you were told to actually lie in a provable way, it may be worthwhile for you to consult in detail about the situation with an employment law attorney.
