Can my employer fire me without cause?
I went to work and after I started working, they told me I was fired and gave me my last check without a pink slip.

In an "at will" work relationship (and most empplyment is), an employee can be fired for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice. The fact is that an employer can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit, including who to fire, when, why and how. So unless your termination violates company policy or the terms of a union or employment agreement, it was legal. Also, your discharge must not have constituted some form of actionable discrimination.
