Can my employer make me take off my ball cap because it is a competitors?
My employer has made several of us remove our ball caps and put on other ball caps, because the ones we wearing were of a “competitor”. we have to wear “bump caps” and most of us have brought in our own, but many of us were forced to take them off or be disciplined.

Yes, your employer does have the right to do this. That is unless you have an employment contract, union agreement or this action violates existing company policy. Additionally, there must be no form of actionable discrimination involved. Based on the limited facts presented, none of the foregoing would appear to apply to your situation.
The fact is that an employer can dictate the terms and conditions of employment much as it sees fit or deems necessary. It can do this for any reason or no reason at all. In turn, an employee can work for an employer or not, their choice.
