Can someone recieve unemployment and SSDI at the same time?

I’m having rotator cuff surgery. My doctor says that I will be able to get disability. However, now my job is going to lay me off. Can I collect both unemployment and SSDI?

Under the laws of all states in this country, under the right fact pattern, a person can legally receive unemployment benefits and SSDI. From what you have written, since you have an injury that allows you SSDI and you will soon be laid off, you would be entitled to make a claim for unemployment benefits as well.
