Can public schools charge a cell phone permit for phones that are brought on campus but not allowed to be used during school hours?
I was under the impression that only certain entities could charge fees. The public school is charging a phone permit fee for a cell phone to be brought on campus. However, the phone can not be used during school hours.

If someone is willing to pay for such a cellular phone permit fee at school, then the school can charge for such. However, under most education codes anyone bringing a cell phone to shcool can refuse to pay for such a permit. The permit is as though the school wanted to charge for a "laptop fee" for a student. The permit issue that you are writing about is a poor business decision by the school's administrator.
