Can someone obtain a background checkon another personwithout their consent?
A commercial building was rented by an individual and the board of trustees for the owners wanted a background check done. One of the board members obtained the background information without the consent of the lessee. Is this legal?

Under the laws of all states in this country, there is nothing prohibiting a person from seeking and obtaining a background check upon a person without their consent. In my practice, I seek background checks on people from time to time without their knowledge or consent. In fact, there are many companies in the market that provide such services.
