Yes, since there is no law saying either that charges must be pressed immediately or that somone can't change their mind about pressing them. There is a statute of limitations, which sets the maximum time within which to press charges--charges may not be pressed after this time period expires. However, while you don't indicate the possible crime, so we can't look up the specific statute, they are almost always at least 6 months or even a year (and frequently longer), so this would most likely not help.
