Closed business with out notice.
I’ve been working at a hardees for about
6 weeks and then yesterday I get off of
work and go home, then I get a message
from a fellow worker asking for my phone
number and she said they were closing
the store until further notice. They
said they will call me when they reopen
but could not tell me how long or when.
I don’t know who to call or nothing. Are
they supposed to pay me when they closed
the doors or should I wit until my
regular pay date and see if I get paud,
and should the be liable for some time
of compensation, or should I file a
claim with unemployment? Is it legal for
them to just suddenly close the doors
without any prior notice? I haven’t even
been contacted by anyone other then
another fellow employee through social
media. messenger I live in Florida.

Unless notice of the closing was to have been provided under the terms of an employment contract or union agreement, then notice need not have been given. The fact is that a company can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit (asbsent some form of legally actionable discrimination). Further, no pay is required to be given, again unless an employment/union agreement states otherwise. The fact is that a worker can be terminated for any reason or no reason at all, with or without notice.
