conflict of interest on job

I have been at my job for going on 5 years now. I had co-workers who got married about 2 years ago. Then the supervisor who did the schedule quit about 3-4 months ago. The husband is the person who took over and he is now changing my schedule so his wife can have the weekends off with him. He has given her my day hours in order to do this and has put me on the evening shift. I have a second job and now it has afffed me with the change of my schedule that has been the same for 2 years or more. I feel that he is giving her favoritism and I would like to know if he can do this legally. Is she even supposed to work in the same area as him because she is on the same worksite he is every day?

Unless this favoritism is due to some form of legally actionable discrimination (i.e. is based on your race, religion, nationality, gender, age (over 40), diability, etc.), you have no claim here. Absent an empoyment contract or union agreement to the contrary (or the above stated discrimination), not all workers need be treated the same or even fairly. Accordingly, a company can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit or deems necessary.
