If we were displaced because of an electric fire, what does my landlord owe us?
We paid first and last month to move in. We already paid this month’s rent. The house caught on fire Sunday and our apartment was condemned. We lived in the basement apartment so non of our things were damaged because it was an electrical fire on the third floor. We have been told we have 72 hours to get our things out. What does the landlord owes us?

You need to look for a new unit as soon as possible after you meet with your landlord to get a written agreement signed by him or her that your lease has ended due to the fire. As such, you would be entitled to the return of your pre-paid rent as well as your security deposit from the landlord within 21 to 45 days of move out.
