divorce versus legal separation

Any advantages to a legal separation instead of a divorce in Wisconsin both processes are the same and take the same amount of time but I am trying to decide what would be the best option for me – we have children.

A legal separation can have advantages.  For one, in a legal separation you are still technically married.  Some people opt for this road when say they need to continue health care that only one of the partners in the marriage has available.  The children can always be carried but once divorced a spouse is dropped.  I would take the facts of your situation to an attorney for a consultation.  Good luck.
