Do background checks show arrest records even if charges are never filed?
My wife was arrested on a misdemeanor. No charges were ever pressed. nothing was ever files and she was released after 10 hours. She is worried that a potential employer will find this on a background check. Is this possible?

Yes, it is. Arrest records are separate and apart from conviction records and what she should do is look in to having the arrest record expunged or sealed (some states do one or the other). If charges were never filed against her then it should not be difficult. Good luck.
