Do free stock photos of name brands/logos like a Nike storefront require permisson to use on our commercial website?

We sell digital signage and want to use photos of storefronts that could benefit
from our products, such as Nike, Bloomingdales, etc.

The short answer--not 100% accurate, but it will cover 95% - 99% of cases, so it's a good rule to follow--is that you can never use material found on the web unless it is specifically stated to be in the "public domain" or available for use. Whomever takes or creates a photograph (or whomever they worked for) will own the copyright on all photos unless put in the public domain or made available for free use. To be safe, take your own photos or buy them, such as form a stock photo house or website; in buying them (you specify the use for which you are buying them), you acquire he right(s) to use them.
