What to do if my roommate moved out and left all his things in the apartment?
I moved out of my apartment complex a year ago and took everything of mine and when my roommate moved out he left everything he owned in the apartment the debt collectors tried to come after me for close to $2000 because I was on the lease and now that lingers over my head and is destroying my credit. I sent the apartment a check for the damages that I did and cleaning ect. And they are still coming after me for the things my roommate left in the apartment

You should have in hindsight received a written release from your landlord whn you moved out stating that you did not owe anything further on the lease. Given the situation that you have written, you need to advise the debt collection company where the former roommate is and the fact that you are not the owner of the left behind items.
